Travis Hardman is the founder and principal at Operatic, drawing on his experience across a wide array of digital technology disciplines. He founded Operatic to bring together the most talented people he's encounted in his career, and to build a team that excels in developing new products.
Travis brings expertise in digital strategy, product management, user experience design, digital marketing, and software development. He began his career in design and project management, managing web design and strategy projects for Playboy, Vizio, Nestlé, Cooks Illustrated, and many other well-known brands.
Through his design and project management work, Travis uncovered an affinity for technology, naturally drifting towards the more technically complex projects. He dove into coding, and has worked with many different web technologies and frameworks: PHP, Python / Django, Ruby on Rails, NodeJS, and many others.
The combination of strategy, design, and tech expertise has served Travis well in developing new products and new endeavors. He served as Director of Technology for Drillteam Marketing, where he led development of two CPG marketing platforms, Talkshop and The Hosties, contributing to an acquisition by Austin Ventures-backed Dachis Group. He also founded Annotary, a web-based research and collaboration toolkit. And he led an overhaul of Daily Voice, a network of local news websites, including a corporate re-organization and development of a custom-built technology toolkit. Travis has also developed many other products and tech platforms through years of consulting and since the founding of Operatic.
Travis currently works as the Principal with Operatic, serves as CEO of Cantata Media, which owns and operates the Daily Voice network of local news websites, and serves as Chief Product Officer for UpTop, an Operatic client. He also teaches entrepreneurship in the Strategic Design & Management program at Parsons School of Design. He holds a BA in Economic Theory from New York University.
Michael DeSutter is the design director for Operatic, specializing in brand strategy, user experience design, and interactive design.
